Virtual SWW
For nine days from 25 September – 3 October, we’ll be bringing Shetland Wool Week to you. There will be films, talks, tours and classes – some pre-recorded and others live, as well as music and a market.

Films vary in length, from 5 – 60 mins each. You can view them as they go live throughout virtual SWW, or revisit and watch at your leisure as they will be exclusively available for SWW Members until the end of December 2021.

Take a Shetland crofter’s tour, join in with live Q&As, brush up on your Fair Isle knitting, learn how to use a makkin belt, take a look at natural dyeing, refine your lace, tips on ‘dressing and blocking’, how to ‘knit your own detective’ and so much more. Expect lots of familiar names, such as Janette Budge, Hazel Tindall, Chris Dyer, Ella Gordon, Donna Smith, Deborah Gray, Helen Robertson and plenty of new faces, too.

Now in its seventh edition, the Shetland Wool Week Annual 2021 is packed with exclusive patterns, fascinating essays, and stunning photography taken on location at Shetland’s magnificent Sumburgh Head Lighthouse.
There are 12 cosy patterns from leading Shetland knitwear designers, with some pioneering new names too. Expect vibrant Fair Isle motifs and patterns, subtle, intricate lace, weaving and more.
